My name is Ayrton Senna D’Silva and I am from Venezuela where I was born and raised.

The love of my life has been the piano from the time I began to study as a young boy. I was considered a child prodigy in piano in my home country Venezuela. My world turned upside down when Venezuela fell into conflict and an economic crash. My father, who was trained as an engineer could no longer find work and our money was devalued to the point it was worth nothing. My father Reinaldo and I escaped with just a suitcase with some of our clothes and my most precious thing in my life my Casio portable piano. We have been travelling through South America to find a safe haven and finally we have ended up here in the beautiful city of La Serena in Chile. Here my father is finding some work and I am attending school, studying piano while also performing in various venues to promote myself and to add to our family income.

Although this life now is very challenging and we strive to deal with living without much, my father and I are happy to be together on this adventure with my piano. Thankfully, my mother and some family also live nearby as they have recently also fled to Chile.

I am practicing my piano for many hours every day with the hope of getting better and developing to the point I can study at a conservatory in Santiago or somewhere in the world. I would prefer to go to Canada or the United States but I am open to any opportunity that will make my dream come true.

As part of our adventure with the piano I have met many wonderful people who have enjoyed my playing and have encouraged me and supported myself and my father to continue with my dream. Some good friends have developed a website for me, provided me with business cards, suggested venues where I could play for people and even provided a little financial support. This challenge and adventure in following my dream has taught me that there are many good people in this world and that if I work hard and I am dedicated to my piano, good things happen.
